In 2012 the Gold Coast Seawolves were one of three teams that were part of the Female Gridiron League of Queensland. The FGLQ was the first women’s league to be formed in Australia and in 2013 they became part of Gridiron Queensland. In January 2013 a historic meeting was held between the members of the Seawolves and the Stingrays committee where at that meeting the Seawolves were invited to not only become part of the Stingrays organisation, but to become Stingrays by name also, with the aim of presenting a sign of unity to the other clubs and a sense of belonging to our newest members. The Seawolves ceased to exist and the Gold Coast Women’s Gridiron team were born.

Since joining us in 2013 the women have been defeated only three times and have in fact gone undefeated in 2015 & 2016. In the past 4 years they were Minor Premiers in 2014, 2015, and 2016 and have appeared in the Championship game all 4 years, (formerly known as the SummerBowl, now known as the Women’s Sunbowl), and were successfully crowned Champions in 2013, 2015, and 2016.
We look forward to whatever challenges the future brings to our Stingray Women.
